This Is What An Awesome Handlig Car Looks Like At Ods, Tires Tucked Up In The Fenders And The Bumper Sucked Down To The Track

Practice

Once Again the day started out with an engine mis-fire. We worked all week on the car and thought we had found the problem from last week. After lots of thrashing we found that a brand new distributor we had put in was bad. David was finally able to get some practice laps in during the third practice session. Just as he started his next to the last lap of practice another problem showed up. This time it was some kind of fluttering problem. We worked on the car right up to qualifying time and felt that we had fixed it.

Qualifying

David was the last car to go out for qualifying and the car seemed good on the warm-up lap; by the time he started his timed lap the fluttering came back. David drove the car hard but it was short on power down the straightaway. His efforts behind the wheel were good enough for 3rd quickest. We were quite surprised of his lap times since the motor was not at full power.

100 Lap Race

We worked on the car right up to race time and we were not sure if we had fixed it, the problem only showed itself at top speed. David lined up 4th for the start of the race. On the initial start David said the car seemed better. He started working his way forward but by lap six the problem returned. David drove his heart out and was able to get up to 2nd place by lap 18. For the rest of the race David chased the race leader but with the lack of power he couldn’t quite catch him and had to settle for 2nd place at the end of the race. We are really scratching our heads as to what is wrong with the car, but we are happy with the result all things considered.

Next Week

This coming Saturday we will be missing a race at Old Dominion Speedway for the first time since we started racing there six years ago. It is going to be difficult to do for a number of reasons. First we are currently leading the track championship points there, second his sister and cousin will still be there racing and third we really love racing there.

That being said, we also realize that if David is going to keep rising to the top ranks of NASCAR he will need to be able to go anywhere and race well and at the front of the pack. So this Saturday will be the start of the next step for David in his racing career when we head to South Boston Speedway in South Boston VA. Wish us luck and hopefully we will see some of you there.
