Two Feature Events Two Wins

As we have reported on before, with all of the rain-outs the
track has been forced to schedule double features to get enough races in for
the track regulars to be able to compete for the national championship, so
since the whole month of August was rained out it will be double feature for
the remainder of the season at ODS.

The Indy Cars were in Baltimore this weekend and since we
are sponsored by Redline Power Shots and they Own and Sponsor an Indy Car we
spent the whole day Thursday doing appearances with their Indy Car all around
the Baltimore area. We saw thousands of fans and David signed tons of
autographs and the team handed out lots of free product from our sponsors. The
whole day was very successful.

Practice/Qualifying

We headed to the track Friday afternoon for a special
practice for the Legends Reunion/North South Shoot-Out Twin 50 scheduled for
Saturday evening. Practice went well for the team and at the end of the session
David had turned the quickest lap.

During Saturday’s
practice the car was still performing good and David was pleased with the car,
so we got the car prepped for qualifying.

The Late Models were the last class out to qualify and the
track seemed to get slick since practice and the car was a little loose. David
still put down a good lap and missed the pole by just 200ths of a second

Legends Reunion / North South Shoot-Out Twin 50’s

Below is the story of
the night’s events that was posted on the Old Dominion Speedway web-site.

Polenz Does The Double; Inches Closer To The Title…….9/3/11

David Polenz came into the night’s activities with one thing in mind, finish ahead of Adam
Brenner. Not only did he accomplish what he set out to do, but he did it twice,
taking both ends of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model double
feature Saturday night at the Old Dominion Speedway. Polenz entered the night
with a hefty 39 point advantage, and needed to retain as much a lead as
possible after the night’s events. When the dust had settled, he had picked up
two wins, and has stretched his lead over the defending track champion Brenner
to 85 points with 2 points paying events remaining. Brenner still has a
mathematical shot at the title, but a lot of events would have to fall into
place not once, but twice when the final events are run in two weeks. Stranger
things have happened, so Polenz still needs to do what he has done all season
long, and that’s be as smooth and consistent as possible. His current numbers
include 4 feature wins, 14 top five’s, and 15 top ten’s. His average finish of
3.69 is best by far of any driver this season at ODS that has started all of
the 16 events. The final event of the season, the ODS “Big One” is
scheduled for Saturday night, September 17th. The rain date for the event would
be Saturday night, September 24th. In the first event, Polenz finished ahead of
Michael Hardin, Davey Callihan, Paul Green, and Dustin Storm. In the second
event, the Polenz led the charge to the checkers ahead of Hardin, Storm,
Callihan, and Green.

By Dave Menefee

David started third in the first event and took the lead on
lap three and never looked back. In the second race he started first and
dominated the event. With several cautions in the second race there was a lot
more close racing but David prevailed restart after restart and took home the checkered
again. All that David needs to do to lock up the Championship is finish no
worse than 17th in the first of the twin 100 lap events on 9/17.
