Practice

During the first practice we had some troubles with the
front sway bar and only ran just a few laps. During the second practice the car
didn’t handle well at all and we only ran a few laps. when we went out for the
final practice things seemed better, so we bolted on the race tires and got
ready for qualifying.

Qualifying

David went out fifth for qualifying, he laid down a good lap
and ended up being fourth quickest. We were pleased after the way practice
went. David said the car seemed a little loose so we still had some adjustments
to make to improve the handling. After the invert David would start fifth in
the feature.

The Race

On the initial start of the race the pole-sitter missed a
gear and the inside line got all jammed up. David made a good move to miss the
car in front of him and everyone got themselves all gathered up and kept going;
unfortunately David lost several spots and ended up eighth at the end of the
first lap. David raced as hard as he could but a few laps in the handling got
bad on the car. At one point he dropped all the way to last. At about twenty
laps, there was a caution, we pulled David in and checked the tires and made an
adjustment and sent him back out. from that point on he had his work cut out
for himself and the car still wasn’t handling very good. David ran it hard and
made his way back up to fifth by the end of the race. It was a long day with
some problems throughout and not a great finish, it could have been worse. The
fifth place finish was two spots behind the point leader and David lost four
points to him, now currently trails him by seven. We believe we had a bad tire
combination that gave us the problem; so it’s back to the drawing board and try
to get better for next week’s race.
